Exhibition at the Municipal Gallery of Modern and Contemporary Art in Arezzo

27 novembre 2025 – 11 gennaio 2026

Edited by Jacopo Bucciantini

The exhibition traces the main periods of Franco Onali’s artistic career, creating a dialogue between post-Cubist, figurative, and abstract works. Beyond the variety of styles, a profound coherence emerges: for Onali, painting is not a narrative tool, but a space for inner reflection, capable of conveying the artist’s moods and tensions with absolute sincerity. From the fragmented compositions of the post-Cubist period, where the multiplicity of viewpoints becomes a metaphor for existential uncertainty, to the abstract works of his final years, where color and empty space take on a contemplative value, the exhibition offers a portrait of a free, independent, and deeply authentic artist. Choosing to live his art far from market dynamics, Onali turned painting into a form of inquiry rather than mere representation.
